The 2nd Annual Ruben Budelli Conference will be led by
Dr. Tracy L. Bale, with the title “Extracellular vesicles as stress signals important to brain development and function” Dr. Bale is the Anschutz Foundation Endowed Chair at University of Colorado, where she heads the Laboratory of Translational Psychiatry. Her research focuses on the mechanisms by which stress increases neuropsychiatric disease risk, emphasizing translational research from preclinical animal models to human studies, and engaging community actors, organizations and policymakers. Dr. Bale is active in neuroscience leadership, currently serving as IBRO president.
This event is a dual celebration of both the memory of Professor Ruben Budelli (1941-2017), and of the 30th aniversary of the Sociedad de Neurociencias del Uruguay (SNU), which Ruben co-founded. Ruben played a prominent role in training several generations of neuroscientists and in the development of Uruguay’s scientific institutions after the restoration of democracy. He stood out as an interdisciplinary researcher, helping to build bridges between various scientific fields in the country and pioneering the application of computational sciences to biological systems. The joy, curiosity, and generosity he brought to his role as a researcher and educator have left his numerous students and collaborators fondly celebrating him in this annual event.
The conference will be projected at the XX SNU Congress, and live-streamed through FALAN channels.
