This program provides webinars, recorded content, and online discussion forums to young investigators from Latin America and the Caribbean.

About the Program

The Latin American Training Program (LATP) is a comprehensive, year-long online training program. It provides webinars, recorded content, and online discussions on cutting edge science and professional development to young investigators from Latin America and the Caribbean.

Now in its sixth year, the LATP is supported by The Grass Foundation, The Latin American Regional Committee of the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO), US/Canada Regional Committee (US/CRC) of IBRO, and the selected hosted institutions.

At this time, the 2020 LATP live course is still planned to take place November 2–20, 2020 in Montevideo, Uruguay. SfN and the host institution/organizers of the live course are continuously monitoring the development of the COVID-19 outbreak worldwide, and especially within the Latin American region, to decide whether it is safe to hold the course. Applicants will be promptly notified should there be a needed change in the program.

2020 – 2021 LATP

November 2 – 20; Instituto de Investigaciones Biológicas Clemente Estable, Uruguay

The 2020 Fellows Course will take place at the Clemente Stable Biological Research Institute (IIBCE) in Montevideo, Uruguay. Fifteen top candidates will be selected to participate in the three-week course titled, “Molecules, Cells, and Circuits: Understanding the Nervous System Mechanisms.” The course will bring together top faculty from across the region and the world to provide participants with high-quality lectures, lab exercises, and training on vital professional development topics.

Course materials will be made available to LATP scholars and alumni to allow students from the region to benefit from the science and topics discussed at IIBCE.
